Hillary: An Exclusive
Hillary Clinton unofficially opened her Charleston Campaign headquarters at the corners of Lee and Summers Streets on Monday the 14th. Yours truly was one of the first volunteers to pledge my assistance in any and every way possible. Since the 14th, I have manned the front desk, fielded incoming and outgoing phone calls and coordinated phone banks. I was trained by Hillary's interns who have already dispersed throughout the Mountain State in order to open other headquarters. Hillary's Grand Opening was held on Saturday the 19th. The local press and countless supporters crowded together to hear the decorated General Jack Yeager pledge his solid endorsement of Hillary Clinton as America's best choice for President!
I approached both Democratic candidate's local press representatives to obtain an exclusive statement for WVQN.
Hillary's group granted me an immediate exclusive:
"Hillary is overwhelmingly pleased by the tenacious support of West Virginia's GLBT community. Polls have consistently demonstrated that [our nation's GLBT community feels adamant that she is the best person to represent us in Washington. Hillary maintains that "commitment is commitment" - regardless of gender. We are all capable of feeling love for another person. However, the government-sanctioned opposition to the civil expression of that love is not only a relic of antiquated thinking - it is also morally reprehensible to the gay and lesbian community."
During her tenure as the Junior Senator form New York, she has gone on record as voting against legislation that legalizes same-sex marriage. Her reasoning for this decision is clear: The most immediate goal is to achieve the civil equivalency that has and is enjoyed solely by heterosexuals. Hillary Clinton was quoted by 365gay.com as saying,"I believe in full equality of benefits, nothing left out. From my perspective there is a greater likelihood of us getting to that point in civil unions or domestic partnerships and that is my very considered assessment."
Hillary's local press person thanked both WVQN and me for this interview: "We both accept and appreciate every opportunity to showcase Hillary's stand on the issues that make her the best choice for President."
Senator Obama's local press representative declined to be interviewed.
Until next time!
Robert
