Introducing….. Scott Free!

Artist, singer-songwriter, activist and community supporter. Scott is just one reason the GLBTI Community has something to be proud about.

Scott Free is a driving force for human equality in Chicago and elsewhere. He also is a very gifted artist. This is obvious in his latest released CD “The Pink Album (a pop opera). Think more “Tommy” or “Jesus Christ Superstar” than traditional opera. Through his new CD Scott has not only shared his amazing talent but a bit of music history.

As I listened to the CD I became aware of an uncanny sense of familiar. Not that I had heard this music before, more of a sense of Déjà vu. You that I have been here, heard this before. However, I had not heard the music before, I lived it. Scott has created a time line set to music so to speak. Not with dates and such, but events, social incidents, and trends. So indeed I did have a sense of Déjà vu. Because I lived my life and in Scott’s CD I was listening to a musical take on GLBT growth and social happenings throughout my lifetime.

Not to say this is a history lesson. It is an excellent CD filled with fun, catchy songs which have a deeper meaning to those in our community. So as I said earlier think more “J.C. Superstar” as I feel Scott’s creation will and does have such importance. This is not just an awesome CD, it is a dynamic CD. One for all GLBTI Community. One which Scott has found a unique way to share, and you can help and be a part of this history.

A music video from the CD, “The Pink Album, (a pop opera) called “Free” is currently featured on the LOGO top ten click list. This video as with the entire CD is a wonderful statement. It is one of the first CD’s I have seen which features our community as real people. Not all twenty-something beautiful, but real people like you and me. Filmed at a Dyke Pride event in Chicago the video uses the parade from the event as a backdrop.

Great but hinted costuming combine with the strong nature of the song to make a real statement. The people in the video are in the parade or in Scott’s band. And they are an amazing representation of our community as it really is. To see the video and hopefully you will linger long enough to vote for Scott visit: http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/the_click_list/video_voting.jhtml.

You will enjoy the video and music, you will love seeing our community so well represented. Help me in telling LOGO we want to recognize this achievement and do vote. I think the younger dance videos are great do not get me wrong. But what Scott has brought is genius and simple pride. Worthy of our support. And as Scott s a major community supporter and activist it gives us a chance to give him something back. And such a nice way too!
